Over the course of the week, our class has been practicing rigorously for Business Symposium. I've noticed that not only my confidence has increased, but my presentational skills have gotten a lot better as well. I’ve learned what kind of questions to ask at the end of the interview, how to thank an interviewer correctly, and cut down on using the phrases “so” and “um”. I’ve really enjoyed practicing in class along with my peers and receiving/giving feedback myself. One of the major feedbacks I have gotten is slowing down when I speak. I have a tendency to speak really fast, especially when I'm stressed or nervous, but one of my classmates told me that the next time I am talking too fast, I should take my thumb and rub my palm. This helps release endorphins that help calm the body. I can't wait to try this technique. Mr. Pirtle has done an excellent job preparing our class through the course practicing. I feel more self-assured than I did a couple of weeks ago. I am so excited for Business Symposium not only for the people I will meet, but the feedback I will receive from them.
