Wow, I think it's starting to hit me. All the workload for ISM! Lately, we have been taking action on our original work. Original work is a chance for us, either through your study or your mentorship opportunities, to incorporate new learning that you have learned. This challenge offers an opportunity for you to use innovative thinking skills, create work related to your profession, and feel the pride of making an original, special piece of work that is truly your own. For my original work, I will be conducting a paper about obstacles that could come in the way of the administration of vaccines for children. My paper is mostly centered around the racial and biased guidelines that come to play with vaccinations. So far, I have done a lot of research on the history of racism and vaccinations and have found out a lot of interesting facts I never knew about! One of the most interesting ones I found out was the first vaccination. Emperor K'ang Hsi, who survived smallpox as an infant in the late 1600s, had his kids inoculated. This procedure involved scraping up scabs of smallpox and blowing the matter into the nostril. I can't wait to find out more about my paper. I really do love researching and writing papers about many things, probably because I was in AP Seminar and Research. I can't wait to find out more about my paper!
