It's finally happening. We're finally doing it. The thing that makes ISM, ISM. We are beginning the hunt looking for possible mentors. I have made a list of 30 possible ones ranging from the Texas area to even New York. So far, I've made a few calls and sent a few emails. Prating talking to receptionists and leaving voicemails has really prepared for this moment. In my opinion, I have seen a lot of growth over the past few weeks. I feel as if I have a new wave of confidence when speaking to adults. I no longer stutter and get anxious. I rather let the call or message flow naturally as if having a conversation with someone. I have gotten some responses, but no meeting set in stone quite yet. Since my desired career revolves around healthcare, I honestly understand that finding a mentor will require more work and patience from me. The pandemic has been hard on all of us, especially those of us on the front lines. It's important that I do not discourage myself if I feel as though I am behind some of my peers. I know I will find the right mentor for me at some point and until I do, I promise to work hard and never give up.
