This won’t be similar to my other blog posts over the past year. In this blog post, I would like to catch you up on all I have been doing for ISM this month. Let’s start off with my accomplishments in my original work. I would have to say my biggest accomplishment this month has definitely stayed on top of my original work. I used to think I wouldn’t be able to hold myself accountable for doing all the work that needs to be done, but I have to realize that it’s not as bad as I thought it was, especially since I have enjoyed the work I have been doing. Next are my Goals/Action steps pertaining to my Mentorship. I have contacted Christi the office manager at Frisco pediatrics to see where my mentorship is at the moment but I will admit it has been hard to keep in contact since they have been dealing with repairs to their office thanks to a snowstorm that hit Texas a couple of weeks ago. I know Mr. Pirtle and Christi have recently been in contact with each other so I plan to find out more when the time comes. Now, let’s talk about my accomplishments pertaining to my mentorship. I would have to say my biggest accomplishment has been staying in contact. Although it’s been hard, I would have to say I feel like I’m doing a good job at making contacts as well as not coming off as annoying and desperate making calls to the office every week. I like to acknowledge that these are real people with their own lives and it’s important not to steer them away from that. And finally, we have my goals/action steps pertaining to your Original Work/Project. I have planned out that in the next two weeks I will start taking action on my actual paper for my original work. The reason I say this is because I want to take time to research how to write an actual scientific paper. I’ve spent most of my time in school learning how to write essays and letters but I have never learned how to write a paper such as this. I hope in time I will be able to have a meeting with Dr. Stokes in the future in hopes she will answer my questions pertaining to paper writing.
